Morgenster Extra Virgin Olive Oil is locally produced from olive trees planted on the historical Morgenster Estate in Somerset West, South Africa. Morgenster was the first South African olive oil to receive the prestigious L'Orciolo d'Oro award in Italy and has continued to do so for seven consecutive years. Their liquid gold has also been voted as the Best Blended Olive Oil in the World by the recently published Italian Olive Oil Bible - L'Extravergine - A Guide to the Best Certified Quality Olive Oil in the World.
Morgenster Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a blend of Frantoio, Leccino, Coratina, and Favoloza olive varieties, grown especially for the production of oil. The different cultivars were imported from Italy, propagated in hothouses on the estate and planted on the Morgenster slopes. The majority of the olives on the farm are hand picked, while some of the olives used for oil production are picked with a mechanical shaker. The oil is cold pressed, entirely natural, contains no additives or preservatives and is neither filtered nor refined.
The flavor of Morgenster Extra Virgin Olive Oil is fresh, with a full-bodied texture and a slight peppery after-taste, the sign of a quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
